McIntire was a partner of the King & Spalding law firm from 1953 to his retirement in 1987. He worked with Robert Troutman for a period of time until Troutman's departure over a dispute regarding the Atlanta Crackers minor league baseball team.

Sound recording of a telephone interview digitized from audiocassette with Pope Barrow McIntire by Hugh L. Gordon. McIntire was a partner of the King & Spalding law firm from 1953 to his retirement in 1987. He worked with Robert Troutman for a period of time until Troutman's departure over a dispute regarding the Atlanta Crackers minor league baseball team. During the interview, McIntire discusses his memories of working with Mr. Troutman, including a lawsuit involving the Southern Railroad Company, John F. Kennedy's 1960 campaign in Georgia, and a development deal in Naples, Florida. He also talks about Troutman's personal qualities. Pope Barrow McIntire was born in 1924 in Savannah, Georgia. He was the sixth child of Francis Percival and Lucy Barrow McIntire. McIntire graduated from Savannah High School in 1941 and attended Swarthmore College. With the outbreak of World War II, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps, flying a B-17 bomber in the European and Pacific theaters. McIntire married Idelle Palmour Holmes on July 27, 1945, shortly before being deployed to the Pacific. With the end of the war, Mr. McIntire entered the Lumkin Law School at the University of Georgia. After graduating, McIntire set up practice with Jones, Williams, Dorsey and Hill in Atlanta. He moved to King and Spalding in 1953, where he continued to practice law until his retirement in 1987. Pope and Palmour had three daughters, Palmour, Sarah, and Kathleen. Mr. McIntire died in July 2005.
