Abstract
James E. “Mack” Henderson spent a 37-year career from 1952 to 1989 with BellSouth where he was a senior manager. He served as Cobb County manager from September 1989 to March 1993. He was a trustee of the KSU Foundation from 1976 to 1998 and is currently a trustee emeritus. He also served on the boards of the WellStar Health System and WellStar Foundation.
Description
James E. “Mack” Henderson spent a 37-year career from 1952 to 1989 with BellSouth where he was a senior manager. Shortly after he retired, the Secrist administration asked him to serve as Cobb County manager, supervising several thousand government employees. He held that position from September 1989 to March 1993. He was a trustee of the KSU Foundation from 1976 to 1998 and is currently a trustee emeritus. He also served on the boards of the WellStar Health System and WellStar Foundation. The Jean and Mack Henderson Women’s Center at Kennestone Hospital is named in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Henderson. He is also a former chairman of the Downtown Marietta Development Authority. Among his many community services, he was president of the Cobb Chamber in 1984 and was selected as Cobb County Citizen of the Year in 1985. The Cobb Chamber gives an annual Mack Henderson Public Service Award in his honor.
