Oral history interview with Cobb County local and retired Marietta City Schools System educator Jennie Hill Gresham.
Description
Born in 1933, Jennie Hill Gresham grew up off Canton Highway in Cobb County and attended the Liberty Hill and Noonday church schools. When her family moved to Marietta, Georgia, Gresham attended Lemon Street Elementary School and graduated from Lemon Street High School in 1949. The first in her family to attend college, she earned a degree in social studies from Clark College and taught in Commerce and Toccoa, Georgia, before taking a position at Lemon Street Elementary School in 1954. While teaching, Gresham earned a master’s degree from Atlanta University in 1961. After integration, she was moved to Park Street Elementary School and later to Pine Forest Elementary School, where she taught until her retirement in 1988. Gresham passed away in May 2020.
