Description
Jim Fausett was a professor of architecture at Southern Polytechnic State University from 1971 until his retirement in 2003. Arriving just after Southern Tech gained four-year status, he developed most of the initial design and building materials and construction courses. His extensive professional service included terms as president of the Atlanta and the Georgia chapters of the American Institute of Architects. The annual Jim Fausett Golf Tournament has been held every year since his retirement to raise money for scholarships for architectural students at SPSU (now Kennesaw State University). In addition to his work on campus he has designed a number of buildings in the area, including the Cobb County Civic Center and the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre, and he has worked on such historic preservation projects as the Old Zion Baptist Church Museum and the branch of the United Community Bank in the Old Lost Mountain Store in West Cobb.
