Abstract
Oral history interview with Gillian Perry, co-founder of the Anne Frank Trust UK and author of The Legacy of Anne Frank.
Description
Born in London, England (United Kingdom), in 1951, Gillian Perry co-founded the Anne Frank Trust UK in 1990, serving as its executive director until her retirement in 2016. Led to her work in Holocaust Education through human rights activism on behalf of Jewish Refuseniks in the USSR during the 1980s, Perry grew the Anne Frank trust from a small group of volunteers dedicated to staging the “Anne Frank in the World” exhibit in the UK to an educational organization with a staff of 35 empowered to take educational programs to combat prejudice and discrimination to schools, prisons, and communities in all parts of the UK. In 2018, Perry published The Legacy of Anne Frank which tells the story of the people and organizations who work around the world to share Anne Frank’s story and Otto Frank’s humanitarian mission. Perry recorded her Legacy Series interview with the Museum of History and Holocaust Education via Zoom on August 11, 2020.
