Description
Dr. Judy Brown-Allen is a senior lecturer of Sociology, joining the faculty of Kennesaw State University in 2003. She is the 2013 recipient of the Betty L. Siegel Faculty Member of the Year Award, given by the KSU Alumni Association. Dr. Brown-Allen received a master's degree in Clinical Sociology from Texas Southern University in 1988 and a Juris Doctorate degree from Atlanta Law School in 1992. She has coordinated the Sociology internship and coop program and advised the Student Organization of Sociology Club and the KSU chapter of the NAACP. Dr. Brown-Allen served as a cultural sensitivity trainer for the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) program of the Cobb County Juvenile Court. In 2007 she endowed the Dr. Judy Brown-Allen NAACP Student Retention Scholarship to assist African American male students. She also established a scholarship in memory of Dr. Jonathan Freedman to provide laptops to deserving Sociology majors.
