Abstract
Dr. Mark Nunes chaired SPSU's Department of English, Technical Communication, and Media Arts from 2006 to 2014. Dr. Nunes was instrumental in developing the New Media Arts Program.
Description
Dr. Mark Nunes chaired Southern Polytechnic State's Department of English, Technical Communication, and Media Arts from 2006 to 2014. He earned M.A. degrees in Experimental Psychology from Columbia University in 1989 and English from the University of Virginia in 1992. Dr. Nunes was a faculty member at Georgia Perimeter College from 1992 to 2006, serving as department chair for the last four years. In 2006, his revised Ph.D. dissertation from Emory University was published under the title, Cyberspaces of Everyday Life, by the University of Minnesota Press. He also edited and contributed a chapter to the book, Error: Glitch, Noise, and Jam in New Media Cultures (2010). While at Southern Poly, Dr. Nunes was instrumental in developing the New Media Arts Program. In 2014, he moved to Appalachian State University, accepting the position of Chair of the Department of Cultural, Gender & Global Studies.
